(Introductory Speech) “[It’s] really disappointing and frustrating to play these games and you know it’s going to be close. The NFL games are just around the corner. The games in our division are close, but you have to find a way to win and we didn’t do that today. Guys, they worked their tails off during the week to come out and play hard and not come away with the win. So it’s frustrating. I think we understand that there are things we need to do and not do in order to win. A couple of times today we didn’t do those things. So kudos to them, but frustrating.”

(about the explanation for the false start before the blocked field goal) “I haven’t gotten a good answer yet. I’ll make sure I get an answer there, but I haven’t gotten a good one.”

(offensive pass interference call) “I think you know about all that, I’ll get an explanation later. It’s frustrating, and it goes back to these guys playing like crazy. They put in the work. They’re fighting to do it. It was an accident, and I’ll get an answer, I’m sure, tomorrow.”

(when moving the ball a yard on a blocked field goal) “Obviously, with all these things, you’re trying to execute in the moment. Sometimes they’ll make a play, but at the end of the day, we have to clean up and get the ball.”

(about the Ravens getting two possessions deep in their own territory) “You have to make that play in field position, and we didn’t do that enough in this game.” Sometimes we have to keep them in reserve and sometimes we have to move the ball better in attack. So field position takes offense, defense and special teams as well.”

(if they were trying to get Nick Chubb more into the third quarter) “We’re always trying. I can think of one series where we throw to first and then you’re on second and long, then throw to second and throw to third and then it’s three and out. Obviously, we want him to be involved in that what we’re doing. There are moments that are frustrating, but I think the big thing is staying on track. Staying with efficient plays allows you to stay in control of third downs. Ultimately, it will allow you to stay on the court and make more plays trying to get the ball to different people.”

(a passer flag is raised on a rough play) “I mean, he almost took the mask off my face. It’s tough, man, obviously he’s on the road in those situations, they’re big plays. And obviously you’ve got to keep it away from the referees as much as possible. Yeah, so I was shocked that they picked him up.”

(about whether some questionable penalties affected the outcome of the match) “No, no. I definitely think there’s a lot more play in there than what we left. I can, off the top of my head, give you a high five right now. Obviously, you’d never go into a game wanting calls. We didn’t expect any calls. We just have to we find a way to make those plays.”

(on the good start of the game on offense and whether the Ravens changed anything on defense): “No, not at all. I think it was self-inflicted. Yeah, we definitely got off to a fast start. That was one of our goals. Coming into this game, they never trailed in the first three quarters. The plan was to come out fast and get them make them play from behind. I felt like we did a good job of getting off to a fast start. We stalled a little bit in the second quarter. It was all arbitrary. Those were things we had complete control over.”

(about what needs to change)“We have to play more sound. We can’t give the ref an excuse to call.”

(if he was surprised that the flag went out on the obstruction)“Not necessarily.” That’s something I shouldn’t have done. After all, like I said, I’m a professional and I can’t give a judge a chance to make that decision. play cleaner.”

(about how all games and losses happen the same way, with fourth quarter collapses)“To lose is always frustrating. If you’re in the league long enough, most of the time you’re winning or most of the time you’re losing, it’s going to be like that – it’s going to be close. And everyone on the field is a professional, so it will be very competitive. The difference between winning and losing is very small. There are some details we have to iron out if we want to be a better football team.”

(on how often a pass interference call occurs) “We wrestled hands. It was a very subjective call. At the end of the day, it’s up to the umpire. Different umpires, different crews, have different preferences. Everybody’s calling different kinds of plays, if that makes sense. Some will call OPI [offensive pass interference]; some will call more DPI [defensive pass interference]; some will call holding on the line. Apparently they called it, and it’s something that costs us. After all, if I had replayed the game, I think I could have made that catch without doing what I did. That one’s on me.”

(if it looked like they cleaned up some things defensively today) “Yeah, I mean, we did a better job, but we didn’t win, so we’re going to need more bite.”

(based on what he thought the team did well defensively) “We’ve got to keep trying to improve the run defense, and it’s not there yet.” But in the passing game, we did a good job, but obviously, the Ravens, they’re a run football team and they’re trying to get a lot of quarterbacks and stuff, so we’ve got to be healthy and we’ve got to play complementary football.”

(on how they limited TE Mark Andrews) “We know he’s one of Lamar’s.” [Jackson] favorite targets. Just try to take him away, if nothing else. Just catch him and know they’re trying to get him the ball. We have to play complete defense. Twenty-three points may not seem like much, but it’s too much.”

(on whether the defensive line played arguably its best game against QB Lamar Jackson)“I think we did a good job of containing him, trying to stop him from throwing the ball. They kind of went away from it, and we did a really good job of slowing down the run game, keeping their averages pretty low, at least for them . But the name of the game is possession and capitalizing on them. We were able to take the ball away once, but they also put the ball on the ground another time or two. But you know, [LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah] came up with that big play, getting the ball back. But we have to be hawks, we have to keep looking and find a way to put the ball in a good position to attack, or to score with it ourselves.”

(about how frustrating it is to hold QB Lamar Jackson without a rush and TE Mark Andrews without a catch and still lose the game) “A loss is a loss. I don’t think about statistics at all. Statistics don’t matter to me, especially when we lose. Film won’t lie, it will show us what we need to work on, what we need to improve, how we could have made a difference in that game and how we we could have kept them a few more points off the board.”

(about a game that boils down to “tick tack” calls)“As far as tick-tack calls go, there are always plays that make the difference in a game; you never know when they will come, it could be the third quarter, it could be the fourth. But I know they had easy touchdowns with our side and our stepping up and holding them to a field goal a few times was huge, but we were able to completely keep the points off the board. I’m not really upset about that, because they have probably the best shooter in the game right now. We should shut up a lot. We could have made a couple of stops in a row that could have changed the game a little bit more, although we did a good job overall.”

(about the attitude of the dressing room after the defeat)“I heard a lot too. I think it’s just a lot of guys who are passionate about winning, passionate about the game and will speak their mind. Sometimes it gets spilled where people outside can hear, but no one is the worse for the wear. I think everyone is very intent on winning and fixing what we did wrong.”

(on KB Lamar Jackson’s good play the last few games) “You know, we didn’t win. We didn’t contain him well enough the last couple of times in this house. He threw four picks and we held them pretty low in terms of yards and touchdowns, but he still found a way to come out with a win. Something is going right for us , but it’s not over yet. We have to keep working to finish things and win.”

(that’s Groundhog Day with late game losses) “I think we have to do better. You know, we’ve been in a position, like you said, a couple of times where it seems like it’s been scripted, but if we can find a way to execute and hit that one play, and like I said, you don’t look in the mirror that somebody else played the game, you play alone. Whether it’s a block, whether it’s a tackle or a defensive stop, we’ve got to find a way. You know, if you get a win in the win column, it smooths the seas a little bit and we can build on that.”
