MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Vineville Academy of the Arts held Career Day Thursday.
People from diverse backgrounds and professions teach students in the morning Pre-K through Grade 5 what they do for a living.
41NBC’s Tucker Sargent was among the participants.
He says he believes we may have some journalists on our hands in the future and he likes to answer questions from students.
Principal Christy Graham called the event a success.
“Many of our parents come to share what they do every day for our community,” she said. “It gives our kids a chance to see the whole range of opportunities that are out there for them and sometimes things that they haven’t even thought about, that they’ve never considered.”
Students got to meet a veterinarian, pediatrician, a singer and even firefighters.
Graham says it’s important that her students always believe in themselves and have the confidence to follow their dreams.
The event was held at that time Project Appleseed’s National Parental Involvement DayAccording to Project Appleseed’s website, the day is dedicated to reminding students and parents that learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom. “Help children find opportunities to experience new places, people and ideas, whether it’s visiting a museum or talking to a community leader,” the website says. “Finding a passion and a mentor can open up a child’s world.”
