19m The annual James D. Plower Honor Band will perform A variety of classical and modern band literature will be performed by 95 students selected from 20 schools across North Dakota and the South. Dakota, featuring selections arranged by Ployhar.

“Once again we are humbled by the regional support for our event,” said Gerald Heid, festival director and chairman of the music department. “Thanks to the efforts of the director and students, we are once again offering two quality instrumentals as part of the Ployhar event.”
Marking the first Plover event at the newly completed Center for the Arts, the event will feature two educators who have recently been honored in their fields.
Sean Sudduth, University of the Cumberlands (UC), Ky. Honor will conduct the band, which features top instrumentalists hired for the event. Sudduth currently serves as the Director of Music Education and Athletic Bands at UC and sponsors the UC National Association for Music Education (NAfME) chapter, which was recognized with the 2022 National Service Chapter of Excellence Award.

The festival band will feature Tammy Goerger, current Wahpeton Public Schools instrumental music teacher and 2022 Richland County Teacher of the Year.
“We are honored to have two outstanding educators for this year’s festival,” added Heide. “Both of these directors are inspiring leaders and musicians, and we are grateful for their willingness to share their time and talents with Plowa participants. We look forward to a memorable evening, and look forward to welcoming these students, directors and their families to experience our beautiful campus!”
