Pan Macmillan has created a ‘whirlwind’ six-figure advance for debut author CL Miller’s murder-mystery series set in the world of antiquity.
Signed by Francesca Pathak, Publishing Director The Antique Hunter’s Guide to the Kill within 12 hours of receipt of the manuscript. Pathak acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Hannah Todd at Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency in a three-book deal. The Antique Hunter’s Guide to the Kill introduces the reader to the Crockleford Antiques Mystery series and Freya Lockwood – a young woman who has avoided the quaint English village in which she grew up for the past 20 years. Until news arrives that antiques dealer and Freya’s estranged mentor, Arthur Crockleford, has died under suspicious circumstances. Miller wrote the book in consultation with his mother, Judith Miller, a respected antiques expert, a regular on “Antiques Roadshow” and publisher of The Miller’s Antique Guides, which now has more than 150 titles.
