SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A fierce bidding war made the crowded standing room intangible on Wednesday. As two nonprofit hospital systems battle over 48 acres of Arizona land.
Phoenix-based Banner Health was the first applicant. It asked the Arizona Department of Lands to consider selling land on the northeast corner of Loop 101 and Hayden Street in Scottsdale, in the backyard of Scottsdale-based HonorHealth. which ends in victory
Banner Heath has big plans for that parcel — a hospital campus with an acute care hospital. surgery center and medical office buildings totaling more than 1 million square feet.

HonorHealth’s CEO bid against Banner Health CFO Dennis Laraway, raising the land price starting at a minimum bid of $56.95 million to $84 million. The live auction was held Nov. 16 at the Department of Lands. of Arizona in downtown Phoenix.
