American Repertory Ballet to perform 'The Nutcracker';  in Princeton, Trenton and New Brunswick

(Central NJ) — American Repertory BalletIts magical production The Nutcracker Three Central New Jersey performing arts venues return this holiday season. Curtains rise November 25-27 at Princeton’s McCarter Theater Center; Performances continue at the Patriots Theater at Trenton’s War Memorial on Dec. 11; And the grand finale will be at the State Theater in New Brunswick, New Jersey, December 16-18.

The Nutcracker Ballet is a local and national holiday tradition for families and seasoned ballet fans. It’s no surprise that the charm, excitement and wonder of the production continues to be a part of our community’s annual holiday plans and an ideal way to celebrate the season,” said Artistic Director Ethan Stiefel.

For the first time, the American Repertory Ballet (ARB) will collaborate with the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey under the leadership of conductor Daniel Spalding. This professional artist will be joined by the Trenton Children’s Chorus for one performance only at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial.

Five performances The State Theater will feature live music played by the New Jersey ARB Orchestra, this year accompanied by the George and Joyce Albers-Schoenberg Assistant Conductor Kenneth Bean of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and the Princeton Girls’ Choir.

The Nutcracker The magical story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they battle toy soldiers and larger-than-life mice and travel through a whirlwind of dancing snowflakes to the Land of Sweets. Greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her cavalier, Clara enjoys a suite of bright and cheerful dances before opening her eyes to the familiar sights of her own home, wondering if it was all a dream.

Families can visit and take pictures with cast members in the lobby. The Nutcracker Boutique for special gifts, maybe enjoy some hot cocoa on break. “For nearly 60 years, families have been delighted by this beloved production and created great memories together,” Hench said. “We invite listeners of all ages to join the fun!”

Led by Artistic Director Ethan Stiefel, American Repertory Ballet (ARB) is New Jersey’s premier ballet company, presenting new and existing contemporary works as well as classical repertory.
