A high-profile Toronto antique market forced out of its old location has found a new home in Mississauga.
The Sunday antique market, which for decades operated out of St. Lawrence Hall on Front St. and later south of St. Lawrence Market on Front St., will set up shop in the former small arms inspection building in Lakeview. 1352 Lakeshore Rd. E. near Dixie Road.
A pre-Christmas show is planned for Saturday, November 26, followed by the regular Sunday monthly fair starting January 15 in the new year.
“We are pleased to announce our new historic location!” – the operators of the antiques market announced on social media last weekend.
Although details have not been released, the market is expected to attract dozens of vendors, typically selling all kinds of furniture, memorabilia and collectibles.
The Sunday Antique Market originally operated out of St. Lawrence Hall beginning in 1991, but had to shut down when plans were announced to demolish the building directly across from the historic St. Lawrence Market.
Since 2016, the antique vendors have set up in a large tent at The Esplanade and Market, south of St. Lawrence Market. Street.
With the streets surrounding the venue closed to traffic earlier this year, as well as two years of closures due to the pandemic, the Toronto location became inoperable, forcing operators to look elsewhere.
Vendors will now have 18,000 square feet of space at the small arms inspection station. where you can operate in a building that has already re-dedicated itself to arts, culture and cultural heritage.
