Alliance – Great organization you should know about
Anula Shetty, award-winning filmmaker and new media artist, is on board. He is the co-director of Termite TV Collective.

Recent leadership changes announced – Christina Vassallo and Penny Bach
Penny Balkin Bach is retiring from a longtime directorship with the Association for Public Art, where she led initiatives in neighborhood public art and led the organization through a successful name change from the Fairmount Park Art Association to the Association for Public Art, and more.
Christina Vassallo is leaving FWM to become Executive Director of the Cincinnati Arts Center – Christina took over during the pandemic and led the museum to many diverse and exciting programs.

PHDC Percentage for Art Call – $1.1M Art for New Festival Pier – DUE JAN. 10, 2023
PHDC is announcing a new RFQ for artists! It is one of the largest award opportunities presented by percentage for industrial programs. Festival Pier is the second largest publicly owned parcel of Delaware River waterfront. The project will be part of a larger investment strategy in the area.
PHDC and the development team at Haverford Properties and Jefferson Apartment Group announce a two-phase process through which we will award and commission public artwork at the Riverview development located at Festival Pier at Spring Garden Street and Columbus Boulevard.
The property is being developed in coordination with the Percent for Art program, which requires developers to commit one percent (1%) of their construction costs to original, site-specific works of art. The art budget for the project is one million, one hundred thousand dollars ($1,100,000).
Call for Artists: The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is Part 1 of a two-part public art selection process for Festival Pier where up to five finalists will be selected by PHDC based on recommendations from the PHDC Public Art Committee, developers and the community. members
Finalists will move on to Part 2: Request for Proposal (RFP) where they will be invited to develop a full proposal. Finalists will receive a Three Thousand Five Hundred-Dollar ($3,500) honorarium for completing and presenting their proposal to a review committee comprised of the Arts Committee and development project stakeholders.

Pink Noise Projects Winter Residency Program – DUE DEC. 3
Pink Noise Projects is pleased to announce the opening of our application period for the Pink Noise Projects (PNP) Winter Residency Program, which will run from December 15, 2022 to February 5, 2023. Applicants can apply for PNP’s Winter Artist-in. Housing, using our gallery space to advance projects, research or other forms of creative activity.
Our winter artists-in-residence will have full access to our gallery space for the duration of their approved residency in the Rollins Building at 319 N. 11th Street (2nd Floor), Philadelphia, PA, including support and access to PNP collective members. That’s what the Callowhill neighborhood has to offer. Our winter artist-in-residence will be invited to exhibit projects completed during their residency during the First Friday presentation on February 3, 2023.
In light of ongoing development projects across our city that are displacing artists, PNP has invested in positioning us as a resource for artists, creatives and other practitioners struggling to find affordable studio space in Philadelphia. We hope to provide a space for reflection and create new opportunities for creativity, connection and thinking within our art community.
Those eligible to apply include visual artists working in any medium, writers, curators and anyone who considers themselves a creative thinker and producer. More details and submission instructions here.
