October 21 – LENOIR – A new antique and vintage shop is opening in downtown Lenoir.
Located at 309 Main Street Suite C in Lenoir, Boomerang officially opened on Saturday, October 8th.
Susan Holt, the owner, and Johnna Patterson, the managing director, are best friends and both passionate about antiques. They worked together on Dead People’s Stuff.
“We realized we both liked the same things,” Holt said. “We got along really well and it kind of clicked.”
“Working with your best friend doesn’t get any better,” Patterson said. “We fit together like ying and yang; what he does and what I do make a whole.”
The two like to fill their store with items they like and hope the community likes them too.
“So far, yes, and it’s such a rush,” Holt said. “We both love what we do. It’s a job where every day is a little different and we’re both looking forward to getting here.”
Holt said he and Patterson felt the name “Boomerang” reflected both of their feelings in life.
“I really believe that when you do good, it comes back and makes everything better,” Holt said.
Boomerang offers a wide variety of merchandise including jewelry, vintage clothing, shoes, hats, books, Tupperware, pottery, art, furniture, unique crafts, and more. Each room in their store has a theme, such as the kitchen, back porch, closet, and library.
Holt and Patterson both strive to uplift their fellow community members.
“There are a lot of people who are underappreciated in this city,” Holt said. “They have a hard life. We were able to use some of them to refinish some furniture, load it and move it. It kind of gives them a boost and helps us.”
The store offers consignment opportunities for local artists and crafters to sell their products.
Patterson and Holt are excited to begin hosting Tuesday Tea Parties in January 2023. Every Tuesday from 14:00 to 16:00, the couple serves coffee, tea and snacks. These events will be free and open to the public.
Afternoon tea parties are held on the first Tuesday of every month, which are a bit more hip. Patterson plans to bring a speaker to each event to discuss local and North Carolina history. These afternoon teas take place between 18:00 and 19:30
BumerĂ¡ng is now open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Sunday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and closed on Mondays. They accept cash, checks and all major credit cards.

“I’m very happy,” Patterson said. “I’m just excited to be doing what I’m doing. I love what I’m doing.”
