Owners Sue and Tony Bazzo have been dealing in antiques for nearly 30 years in various shows and antique shops. Their son and one of the Hub’s managers, Nicholas Bazzo, tells the story Pittsburgh City Paper that “one day they decided to open their own shopping center and the rest is history”.

The Hub features more than 125 retailers in an area of ​​18,000 square meters. As for what you can find, the range is so wide that it’s unpredictable.

“Whether it’s celebrity autographed memorabilia, pieces of local history, props from famous Pittsburgh movies or a group of frogs playing an instrument, you never know exactly what’s going to land on the counter,” says Bazzo.

On a recent trip to the store, I scored a vintage black lace top and a piece of uranium glass—a slightly radioactive type of glass popular in the early 20th century that is colored green by the addition of uranium and glows neon under UV light. light. But my favorite find? An animatronic gorilla gyrating to the ‘Macarena’, which when shown to others elicits reactions ranging from ‘horrifying’ to ‘epic’.
