The City of Leesburg has notified the board of directors of the Leesburg Center for the Arts that there may be financial irregularities in the management of their organization.
As a result, the Leesburg Center for the Arts Board has requested that the Lake County Sheriff’s Office open a preliminary investigation into the matter. Due to financial contributions from the City of Leesburg to the Leesburg Center for the Arts, including grants and other public funds, the City will engage an audit team of MSL CPAs and Advisors to review the Leesburg Center for the Arts financial information.
The Leesburg Center for the Arts board is cooperating with the city to openly review its financial records, Leesburg officials said in a news release issued Monday.
“If irregularities or inconsistencies are found in this audit, the City and the LCFA Board will report such information to the appropriate authorities,” the news release said.
The Leesburg Center for the Arts was founded in 2000. It is headquartered at 429 W. Magnolia St.
