Did you know that Pennsylvania is considered the Antiquities Capital of America? Yes, and it is a must visit. Just a warning: Once you visit, you’ll come back again… and again.
Located in northeastern Lancaster County, the charming town of Adamstown, home to just under 2,300 residents, has earned a reputation as the Antiquities Capital of the United States.
Collectors travel from all over the country to this lovely little town to explore the so-called “Adamstown Antique Mile.”
The Antique Mile is located along Route 272 between Lancaster and Reading. Its prime location near the PA Turnpike makes it convenient for locals and out-of-town visitors alike.
Before heading to Adamstown, you should probably make a plan. After all, there’s a lot of ground to cover, including hundreds of traders in shops and markets, all within a mile.
You can go treasure hunting in Adamstown at any time of the year, but the warmer months add a bit of a boost with the outdoor markets.
One of Adamstown’s larger antique malls, Mad Hatter Antiques boasts over 100 vendors in over 15,000 square feet.
No matter what you’re looking for—or even if you’re just browsing—you’re sure to find plenty of gems in the city’s many shops and markets—from vintage holiday decorations to classic dolls.
With so many antique shops to explore, you could probably spend an entire weekend in the city, where you’ll also find a collection of delicious dining destinations.
