If you’re not familiar with Transylvanian cuisine, Alina and Chirs Caldarariu are dying to serve you up at their new East Haven restaurant, Tansilvania Restaurant and Bar.

The couple moved from Romania nine years ago hoping to share their culture. That dream came true when they opened a takeout-only version of Transilvania in Fairfield. Now they’re moving to East Haven with a full service dining experience.

Housed in one of Connecticut’s oldest buildings (it was built in 1706), the Caldararius said it captured the old-world-Romanian feel they had hoped for. The restaurant includes chicken paprikash, stuffed cabbage, pan fried chicken liver, tripe soup and meatball soup, stuffed cabbage, goulash. Romanian sausage and many pork and potato dishes.

The couple hopes to add entertainment and traditional Romanian dress in the future.
