As India prepares for the 5G spectrum auction, the center has announced that no SUCs such as ‘frequency usage fees’ will be charged during the auction process. The news has brought great relief for telecom operators (TSPs) as it will quickly reduce their future outflows towards these legal fees.

“For spectrum acquired through auctions held after 15.09.2021 in different access frequencies, no SUC will be charged,” the Telecommunications Department said on Tuesday.

The government will conduct an auction on 430 billion radio waves capable of providing 5G or 5G telecommunication services, including ultra-high-speed internet. It was also nominated to set up a 5G network captured by a tech company.

The 72 GHz spectrum will be blocked during the 5G auction starting July 26, 2022.

It is pertinent to say that 5G services will bring high speeds – about 10 times faster than 4G – and create a new generation of offerings and business models.
